Neocolonialism in Africa (Healthcare)

Colonialism has had more negative than positive effects on the continent of Africa. Ranging from tribal group rivalries to government corruption. But colonialism has ruined the healthcare system in Africa (that is why the African politicians and elites travel abroad for healthcare). Many people go to Africa to help out my people because "It is good to help the less fortunate."I do appreciate people wanting to do some community service, but I feel like there is an ulterior motive in why people want to go to Africa to "help." especially with healthcare. I was reading this article where an African woman expressed her frustration about how some Americans give healthcare advice to African governments when they themselves have little to no experience in the healthcare field. (theconversation.com). I agree with her frustration because the outside world always has something to say about how Africans do things. For example, modern medicine vs traditional medicine. Before colonization, Africans had their own traditional remedies for treating illnesses, but when the colonizers came, they introduced their modern medicine. There is nothing wrong with modern medicine but when the modern way of life is considered to be better than the traditional way of life that is where the problem begins. In my opinion, the healthcare system in Africa would be among the best if colonization did not happen.
